"CLIMBING
KILIMANJARO - Don't Just Dream It!........Do It!"
WELCOME! or, as they say in Swahili – Jambo!
Thanks for taking the time
to look at our site! We are currently rebranding our Travel
& Tourism web site and over time our travel and hiking
adventures will expand these pages with an exciting range
of options!

Adventure Afrika Trekking & Travel.....
has been involved
in a number of highly successful trips to climb Mount Kilimanjaro
which is located in the North East corner of Tanzania, and
on the South East border of Kenya.
The base of Kilimanjaro,
a dormant volcano, is about 800 km x 400 km in extent. It
is elongated in shape in an East-South-East direction. It
is not a "single" mountain, but consists of 3
major volcanic centres:
1) SHIRA - standing at 4,006 m ASL on the Western end, the
first to become dormant
2) MAWENZI - standing at
5,149 m ASL on the Eastern end....and
3) KIBO - standing at 5,895
m ASL in the centre, the last to be active. It is thought
the last major episode of activity by Kibo was in the last
few centuries with fumarolic activity being recorded during
the 1940's.
Of the three extinct volcanoes,
it is Kibo you climb to reach the highest point in Africa
- Uhuru Peak - standing at an impressive 5,895m above sea
level.
